The Florida Marlins place Matt Lindstrom on the D.L.

The Marlins have placed closer Matt Lindstrom on the 15-day disabled list but he will be out more like 4-6 weeks. Lindstrom has pitched in 32 games (0 starts) for the Marlins this season and he is 2-1 with 14 saves, a 6.52 ERA and a 1.90 WHIP. Despite having awesome stuff it’s starting to appear like there’s just something missing with Lindstrom. Leo Nunez and lefty Dan Meyer will likely share the closer’s job until Lindstrom can return to action. Nunez also has nasty stuff. He has pitched in 40 games (0 starts) for the Marlins this season and he is 2-3 with 4 saves, a 3.86 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Meyer is a crafty little lefty without much of a fastball. But, he does get by with what he has in his bag of tricks. Meyer has pitched in 38 games (0 starts) for the Marlins this season and he is 2-0 with 1 save, a 1.95 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP. I’m thinking that the Marlins won’t miss Lindstrom too much because Nunez and Meyer are capable replacements.
