The Florida Marlins release Scott Proctor and Dave Davidson

The Marlins trimmed some of the fat off the roster by releasing 32-year old righty reliever Scott Proctor and 25-year old lefty reliever Dave Davidson. Proctor injured himself which caused him to miss the entire 2009 season. He has pitched in 262 games (1 start) in his major league career and he is 16-10 with 1 save, a 4.42 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. Not much of a loss there. Davidson was awful with the Marlins as he only pitched in 1 game for them working 1 inning and allowing 4 hits, 5 earned runs, walking 4 batters and whiffing three. The Orioles claimed him off of waivers during the season but he failed his physical and was returned to the Marlins. He has pitched in 3 games (0 starts) in his major league career and he is 0-0 with a 30.00 ERA and a 5.33 WHIP! The Marlins will be better off without these guys as these moves were addition by subtraction
